Mrs. Ann Gillis Turner Kelly

It is with deep sorrow that the Kelly family announces the death of their beloved mother, Mrs. Ann Gillis Turner Kelly, 86. Mrs. Kelly entered into rest on Friday, November 3, 2023. The Directors of Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home are caring for the family. A funeral service to honor her life will be held at 2 o'clock on Monday, November 6, 2023, at St. Andrew Church of God. The Rev. Scott Hodge will officiate with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at the Funeral Home. Memorials may be made in her honor to St. Andrew Church of God, 4238 Red Hill Road, Camden, SC 29020. Mrs. Kelly was born in Camden, SC, on May 20, 1937. She was the daughter of the late James Irby Turner and the late Myrtle Smith Turner. Mrs. Kelly graduated from Ashwood Central High School in 1955. She was named Miss Hi Miss and Best-All-Round. She was a member of the National Beta Club, Future Teachers of America, Junior Homemakers of America, and the Girls Basketball Team. She married John B. "Joe" Kelly at Salem Methodist Church, and they had three children: Cynthia Ann Kelly, John Brewer Kelly Jr., and Rusell Denny Kelly. She was a member of St. Andrew Church of God. She was a Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Secretary, and the Women's Missionary Society. She served as the church Treasurer for many years. She began her banking career in 1966 at Home Federal in Bishopville. She stayed with banking through several mergers, retiring in January of 2007 with First Palmetto Bank. She enjoyed bookkeeping and kept the books for Triple K Farms. She worked with the Lee County Clerk of Court, bookkeeping records from August 2007 until 2010. She enjoyed working in her yard. She is survived by her sons, John Brewer Kelly of Bishopville, SC, Russell Denny Kelly of Bishopville, SC; daughter, Cynthia Ann Kelly Davis (Mark) of Bishopville, SC; brother, Ed Turner of Bishopville, SC; grandchildren, Kelly Ann Davis (Sarah) of Camden, SC, Nolan A. Davis of Columbia, SC, Jonathan Kelly (Katie) of Bishopville, SC, C. Blake Kelly of Bishopville, SC, Russell D. "Rusty" Kelly Jr. (Kacey) of Hartsville, SC, Madeline J. Kelly (Reid) of Bishopville, SC; eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, James I. Turner Jr.; sisters, Myrtle Olivia Davis, Jane Brown, and Mary Eleanor Seaman.
