Mrs. Ann McClendon King

It is with deep sorrow that the King family announces the death of their beloved mother, Mrs. Ann McClendon King, 91. Mrs. King, the widow of Wiley Brent King, entered into peaceful rest on Saturday, November 16, 2024. The Directors of Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home are caring for the family. A funeral service to honor her life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Bishopville Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Chris Parnell will officiate with a private family burial to follow in Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the service. Memorials may be made in her honor to: Lee County Arts Council, 109 North Main Street, Bishopville S.C. Mrs. King was born in Union, SC on September 23, 1933. She was the daughter of the late Luther Ansel McClendon and the late Mary Catherine McClendon. She moved to Lee County with her family and later wed Brent King in 1959. She worked alongside her husband on their family farm. She took pride in being a homemaker and spending weekends with her three children who participated in activities with the Lee County 4-H Horse Club. Many summers she and Brent enjoyed long nights of shagging in North Myrtle Beach. She was a former choir member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. She immersed herself in the arts; art lessons, acrylic landscape painting, and various crafts. In 2012, her exceptional talent was displayed and honored at the Bishopville Opera House. Her family feels fortunate to have her paintings, which have always been her labor of love. You could always find her on the beach enjoying the warm breeze and sunset. In the latter part of her life, she and Henry Allen shared a fulfilling and wonderful life. Ann is survived by her daughter Kathy Clark (Jamie) of Lexington, SC; son Wiley King of Bishopville, SC; son Kevin King (Jennie) of Lexington, SC; grandchildren Andrea McCutchen (Ryan) of Bishopville, SC; Brent King III of Bishopville, SC; Lizbeth Riggin of Lexington, SC; Foster King of Lexington, SC; Walker King of Lexington, SC; Caleb Clark of Lexington, SC; Great-grandchild, Reid McCutchen, of Bishopville, SC. She cherished her many adventures, memorable times, and the love she shared with her significant other, Henry Allen of Pawleys Island, SC. Ann is also survived by her beloved dog, Misty, a constant and loyal companion. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband Brent King. Serving as pallbearers are Michael Smart, Chad White, Ryan Watkins, Tillman Smith, Ryan McCutchen, and Brent King
