Mrs. Anne Elizabeth "Beth" Strickland

It is with deep sorrow that the Strickland family announces the death of Ms. Anne Elizabeth “Beth” Strickland, 74. Ms. Strickland entered into rest on Monday, June 3, 2024. The family will conduct a memorial service at 2:00 pm on Sunday, June 23rd, 2024, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at a visitation in the Fellowship Hall, and the burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to the Bishopville Opera House. Ms. Strickland was born on April 3, 1950, in Bishopville, SC. She was the daughter of the late Raymond Leslie Strickland and Blanche Irene Strickland. Beth previously worked as a bank teller and for the City of Hartsville. More recently, Beth had been employed by Bishopville’s Opera House. Beth was very involved in her community. She always wanted to help and make things better. Beth was a member of several community organizations over the years: The Lizard Stomp, Lions Club, Opera House, and The Pilot Club. She always put her heart and soul into helping others. Beth attended Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Bishopville, SC. She loved playing the bells at Christmas time. Beth enjoyed going out to lunch on Fridays with her friends for “girl time”. Beth was an avid Clemson fan, especially football. After specific plays by the football team, if you were lucky, she would call you up and say, “Did you see that!” no matter what time of day or night. Not many people knew she also had a cat named Clemson. She loved that cat. Beth had a passion for gardening and cooking. Before her mobility issues interfered. You could hand her a gardening tool or a hand mixer, and Beth would make something amazing out of either. Beth also loved fishing. She cherished the times when she was able to go pier fishing at the beach. You could always find her on the pier from sunup to sunset fishing. When you think of Beth, imagine her sitting at the pier fishing for that “one fish” she planned to cook for supper, with that smile on her that everyone remembers. Beth will be missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her loving brother, James Leslie “Jim” Strickland, and his wife, Jackie of Elgin, SC; 8 nieces and nephews, 13 great nieces and nephews, and 2 great-great nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two sisters: Irene (Strickland) Keister of Bishopville, SC, and Mary (Strickland) Tennant of Sumter, SC. Also, by two nephews: Todd Strickland of Martinez, GA, and Michael Tennant of Sumter, SC.
