Mr. William Banks "Billy" Morrow

It is with deep sorrow that Mrs. Ann Montgomery Morrow and her family announce the death of her beloved husband, Mr. William Banks "Billy" Morrow, 76. Mr. Morrow entered into rest on Sunday, September 10, 2023, with his family at his side. The Directors of Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home are caring for the family. A funeral service to honor his life will be held at 2 o'clock on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at First Baptist Church of Bishopville, with The Rev. Keith Allison officiating. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the service. A private family burial will be held, and United States Air Force Honors will be rendered by the Shaw Air Force Base Honor Guard. Billy was born on November 1, 1946, in Lee County, SC. He was the son of the late Hubert Boles Morrow and the late Isabel Copeland Morrow. Predeceased After graduating from Bishopville High in 1965, Billy joined the United States Air Force. He served as an Aviation Mechanic. This was the start of a long career as a mechanic and an engine specialist. Returning from the Service, he met his wife, Ann. They were married in August of 1972. Billy had various careers throughout his life, including Coca-Cola, Stoudenmire, and Central Carolina. He and his wife would be blessed with two daughters. Billy enjoyed working in his shop on engines. His claim to Drag Racing fame was his debut on the television show Arm Drop. He had a passion for racing and going fast, and that's how he earned the nickname "Wild Bill." He also had a great love for photography and dogs. He would often take his dog, "CoCo," for a ride. Billy had an extraordinary talent for being able to fix or do anything. He enjoyed cooking his Billy fries for his church family and friends. A true Renaissance man, his many passions included building car engines (and teaching anything car-related), building houses, sewing, photography, NASCAR every Sunday, and anything that had to do with racing. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Ann Merritt Montgomery Morrow of Bishopville, SC; daughters, Merritt Morrow Horton (Chad) of Bishopville, SC, and Roslyn Morrow Moore (Tim) of Camden, SC; his dog, Coco; sister, Kathy Morrow Lewis (Joe) of Bishopville, SC. In addition to his parents, Hubert and Isabel Morrow, he was preceded in death by his brother, Mike Morrow.
