    Mrs. Janet Kay McKnight Nichols

    June 27, 1955 - March 16, 2022

    It is with deep sorrow that the McKnight family announces the death of their beloved sister, Janet Kay McKnight Nichols, 66, of Bishopville, SC. Mrs. Nichols passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 16, 2022. A graveside funeral service to honor her life will be held at 2 o'clock on Sunday, March 20, 2022, in Piedmont Cemetery, with The Rev. Tim Lee officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. The Directors of Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home are caring for the family. Mrs. Nichols, the widow of John Nichols, was born in Sumter, SC. She was the daughter of the late James W. McKnight and the late Mary Ann Branham McKnight Yarborough. Janet was a loving sister, mother, and aunt, who enjoyed life to the fullest. She was a passionate animal lover and loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be truly missed. She is survived by her loving daughter, Cathy Nichols (Gary) Mixon of North Carolina; stepson, Shane Nichols of New Mexico; brothers, James A (Cathy) McKnight, Sr. of Bishopville, SC, Cary G. (Jane) McKnight of Sumter, SC, Larry A. (Debbie) McKnight of Bishopville, SC; grandchildren, Cloey Lenhart of North Carolina, Lily Lenhart of North Carolina, Sidney Lenhart of North Carolina, and Ethan Lenhart of Tennessee. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Donald R. McKnight.
