Mr. Thomas Daniel "Tommy" Welch Jr.

December 12, 1960 - February 20, 2022

It is with deep sorrow that Mrs. Amber Welch Branham announces the death of her beloved father, Mr. Thomas Daniel "Tommy" Welch, Jr., 61. Mr. Welch passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2022. A funeral service to honor his life will be held at 3 o'clock on Saturday, February 26, 2022, in The Chapel of Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home, with The Rev. Dr. Nat Brown officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. The Directors of Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home are caring for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to Lee County State Park, Dan Hancock - Park Manager, SCDNR Youth Fishing Tackle Loaner Program, 487 Loop Road, Bishopville SC 29010. Mr. Welch was born in Clarendon County, SC. He was the son of the late Thomas Daniel Welch, Sr., and the late Ada Rhea Parker Welch. Tommy was a loving father, brother, and grandfather. An avid fisherman, Tommy was his happiest on the lake, reeling in any catch. His smile was contagious to anyone he was around -- just don't bring up the Clemson Tigers. Tommy would spend his free time cheering on the Carolina Gamecocks, fishing on the lake, or with his brothers. Tommy holds many memories with his friends, some since high school and others he met along the way during his career as a painter. Every chance Tommy had to be with his family, he would take. He is survived by his loving daughter, Amber (Daniel) Branham; brothers, Calvin (Melissa) Welch, Larry (Jackie) Welch, Terry Welch; sister, Teresa (Joe) Elmore; grandchildren, Leighanna Branham (10), and Cruz Branham (5). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Welch.
